One of the most sought after questions any osteopath gets asked is always....

Why did you become an osteopath?

Well, my journey to become an Osteopath started early into my rugby career. I sustained a devastating shoulder injury in the year of 2014 playing Premier Rugby in Dunedin.

I tore part of my rotator cuff tendon, making work exceptionally difficult at the time.

I was gutted, and had to reevaluate my priorities. Eventually, I made a difficult decision to hang my rugby boots up and continue my work as a personal trainer.

My shoulder rehabilitation was full of complications, unexpected outcomes, and consistent let downs for a certain period of time. Frustrated with the results and poor management, I eventually looked around and found a new practitioner.

When this practitioner treated me, I was surprised by the application of quality hands-on techniques, and the tailored exercise prescription approach. These key aspects helped guide me to a successful rehabilitation outcome.

The series of events that transpired over this period of my life, although frustrating at times, were the catalyst to ignite my endeavor towards becoming an Osteopath. At this stage I was working in Dunedin constructing individualised exercise programs, training clients, coaching and demonstrating a range of exercises for my wide variety of clientele.

After completing multiple years of study, filled with countless hours of intense clinical experiences, examinations and hands-on treatments in clinical practice,

I completed my training to become an Osteopath.

My personal experience of specific hands-on treatment, coupled with an ability to provide individualised exercise prescription and patient aftercare/advice, enables me to provide a service that improves my patients health and wellbeing.

In my spare time I do the opposite of being an Osteopath, and I practice and compete in a form of grappling art called Jiu jitsu where I recently received my brown belt.

I am looking forward to giving back to the Otago & Southland regions, whom have been so good to me throughout my younger years of life.

After the completion of my rehabilitation I made a decision that I would become a clinician who specialises in hands-on treatment of musculoskeletal complaints and injuries, further providing patients with management plans that would improve their overall health and wellbeing.
